Thomson Directories Limited today announces
the formation of a joint venture with Infospace.com (Infospace),
a leading aggregator and syndicator of content and one of
the world's highly trafficked websites.
The new company will be called TDL Infospace (Europe) Ltd
and will distribute tailor-made content packages to other
websites, digital tv and mobile phones. The UK will be the
first country in which these innovative Internet services
will be launched
.
Thomson's directory information and other content will be
added to Infospace's aggregated content packages which include
local weather forecasts, news and e-commerce merchants. These
are co-branded and distributed across some of the most popular
sites such as Netscape, AOL and Disney and collectively generate
more than 200 million page impressions every month.
website producers will be able to gain access to wealth of
content, whilst content owners will be able to build usage
through a unique distribution network. Infospace already has
900 affiliate sites.
According to Andrew Fisher, managing director TDL Infospace
UK: " Infospace, like ourselves, started on the Internet
with directory data and has rapidly grown to be one of the
largest online information providers.
"We are already in final negotiations with some of the
key online players in this country and are actively seeking
partners who can provide complementary content sets and who
want to reach a wider audience.
