Lycos UK to offer INbusiness,
Thomson Directories content on www.lycos.co.uk
Lycos UK, one of the country’s top Internet Navigation
Centres, has signed an exclusive deal with Thomson Directories
which gives all visitors to the http://www.lycos.co.uk site
access to Thomson’s ‘INbusiness’ service
Lycos visitors will now be able to search for over 2.2 million
business listings throughout the UK using combinations of
company name, business type or geographic location as search
criteria.
The service will be launched on 22nd May, and will be accessible
through the UK Local Directory link on the Lycos home page.
Unlike existing online directory facilities, visitors will
be able to see a full listing of companies that match the
search criteria, not just those that have a website. Where
possible, hyperlinks for more information will be available
to companies with websites.
Charles Walker, Managing Director of Lycos UK explains, "Lycos
UK is committed to providing visitors with UK specific content
that is entirely relevant and up-to-date. By co-branding Thomson’s
INbusiness site, we are doing just that. This complements
other content deals with companies such as Bloomberg and Leisure
Planet making Lycos UK a first choice for UK information."
Commenting on the new facility, Andrew Fisher, Business Ventures
manager at Thomson said, "We know from research that
70% of users in the UK use a search engine when looking for
a new site. Lycos UK is dedicated to providing UK content
and was therefore an obvious choice for us."
