17th May 2007 Thomson Local, who recently announced that it is to re-brand its famous directory as The Book, has awarded its multi-million pound directory printing contract to Italian firm Ilte S.p.A.

The five year deal, which commences in January 2008, will cover all 173 editions of The Book which is distributed to 22 million homes and businesses throughout the UK.
Announcing the move, Max Alexander, CEO, Thomson Local said: “After a close and competitive selection process, Ilte demonstrated that they have the infrastructure and capacity in place to handle the printing of The Book. By providing the highest quality product to both our users and customers, we are again giving more than any other directory.”
Based in Turin, Ilte is one of the most advanced commercial and directory printing and communications companies in the market. It was amongst the first Italian companies to achieve ISO 9002 which certifies and guarantees the quality and reliability of the productive process of editorial products. More recently Ilte achieved ISO 14001; environmental control systems, one of the few printing companies with this certification.
