WebFinder.com is a brand new search engine
launched by Thomson Directories that specialises in returning
to users relevant website results from exclusively UK-based
companies.
 |
The site offers advertisers pay-per-click
opportunities and can deliver highly targeted leads to their
site. In addition to listings appearing through relevant searches
on WebFinder.com and ThomsonLocal.com, partner sites are coming
on-stream throughout 2003 and Freeserve, AltaVista and Streetmap
have already signed up to take content.
“WebFinder.com provides a quick and easy method
of connecting buyers and sellers over the Internet, either nationally,
or locally” commented Laurence O’Toole,
Director of New Media and Business Information at Thomson Directories.
As well as attracting regular online advertisers, Thomson Directories
intends to introduce its core SME customers to pay-per-click
advertising. This potential content has proved particularly
attractive to the partner sites.
Advertisers can manage their account online, although those
new to Internet advertising can choose to have an account manager
to help set up keywords, titles and descriptions so as to encourage
visitors to click through to their websites.
The WebFinder.com Editorial Team not only check that listings
to be delivered in search results will be relevant to the users
search criteria, but also closely monitor all content to ensure
that WebFinder.com remains a safe and family friendly site.
Thomson gives advertisers similar value when it comes to achieving
cost-efficiency, offering a range of packages that give businesses
flexibility when it comes to determining the prominence, weight
and timing of their listings. The ability to turn listings ‘on’
or ‘off’ helps businesses subject to seasonality
and capacity issues to target potential customers only when
they can meet their needs.
The pay-per-click package also allows advertisers to carefully
manage their budgets - not only can they decide how much they
are prepared to pay for each prospective customer lead, but
also where they appear in search results relative to their competitors.
