An innovative B2B service from Thomson Directories is helping companies whose sales success relies on keeping abreast of changes and opportunities within their existing and potential customer base.
A recent survey revealed 48% of users said that the unique data service generated new business for them and 29% stated that it helped them keep up to date with what was happening in their local area.

Each month, New Connections from Thomson Directories provides details of all the new and relocated businesses in more than 170 areas throughout the UK. Details are also given of new company owners plus new branches that have been opened in each area.

“For subscribers to New Connections, this provides a regular feed of fresh new business opportunities delivered direct every month”, says Jane Byrne, Business Information Product Manager at Thomson Directories.

New Connections data is taken directly from the Thomson Database – one of the largest in the UK, with more than 2m UK business listings. Each week, Thomson Directories process around 20,000 individual telephone updates received from BT, Cable & Wireless and other telecom providers. Each of these updates is telephone verified by Thomson Directories, adding to the depth of the data and ensuring its quality. Any record that falls into the ‘new’, ‘relocated’ ‘new owner’ or ‘new branch’ category is automatically included in the ‘New Connections’ file.

Subscribers to ‘New Connections’ can choose from over 170 Thomson Local directory areas, enabling them to target geographically the contacts most useful to their sales campaign.

The information provided on New Connections records includes the full business name, address and telephone/fax number (compliant with TPS/FPS), the business classification, the type of premise (from head office to businesses at home), the number of employees, and a contact name and title, usually the senior decision maker.

For those not looking for regular monthly leads, but require information on changes to businesses in their area over longer time-periods, New Connections Plus-X compiles new business start-ups, relocations, branches and new owners from two years ago to the current date. Users can choose the time frame that best suits their needs, either for a one-off sales and marketing campaign, or to clean their existing databases.

New Connections data is supplied either on standard contact cards, disks or e-mail, which come with a straightforward user guide. Subject to the user’s software, labels, lists and direct mail letters can be printed using the data.

A subscription to New Connections is on a twelve month basis and prices start at £272 depending on your chosen area. New Connections provides a regular feed of fresh new business opportunities, delivered direct every month. Plus-X can be ordered as a stand-alone product from around £100 depending on the chosen area.
