The Sunday Times survey found that people like to work at Thomson Directories. 81% of the Thomson workforce said that their colleagues are fun to work with, and a massive 83% would recommend the company as a place to work. 82% of Thomson employees felt that they were appropriately rewarded for good work - one of the top ten results in the nationwide survey.

This level of loyalty is reflected in staff retention levels at Thomson Directories with 40% of employees staying with the company for at least five years, and more than 130 having more than 15 years service under their belts. The Sunday Times survey report described Thomson as 'knowing that a happy workforce is a productive workforce'. The company turned over £113m of business with pre-tax profits of £23m, in the last financial year.

The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies, which canvassed views of more than 86,500 employers across 522 companies, is the only survey that ranks British companies on the basis of what their employees have to say. Companies were asked about many aspects of their workplace, including overall environment, company ethos, leadership, well being, employment satisfaction, personal development and commitment to community and charitable activities.

Comments Jackie Lamb, Human Resources Director at Thomson Directories:

"The survey results from the Sunday Times reflect the commitment and enthusiasm of the Thomson team and how important it is for employers to nurture a working environment and business ethic that promotes this level of employee loyalty and commitment. We would like to thank all our employees for their part in achieving our status as one of the UK 's best employers".

Thomson Directories have also been awarded Investors in People Champion status, one of only 24 firms from of field of 37,000 to have achieved this.
