Leading UK print and internet directory publisher Thomson Directories Ltd. has been named as one of the country's top employers in this year's Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For league table.
Entering at number 34, the company, which employs more than 1,000 people, is particularly commended for its ‘professional, caring and supportive environment where people feel valued'. According to the Sunday Times Employee Survey, more than four-fifths of Thomson Directories employees feel they can make a difference within the organisation - the 13th - highest score for this amongst the top 100 employees.

The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies is the only survey that ranks British companies on the basis of what their employees have to say. In the process of compiling the league table, more than 80,000 employees across 449 companies were asked about many aspects of their workplace, including overall environment, company ethos, leadership, well being, employment satisfaction, personal development and commitment to community and charitable activities.

It revealed the fact that Thomson Directories is a very happy place to work with 84% of employees enjoying a good laugh with people in their team and a strong sense of family experienced by 72% of staff. More than two thirds of employees are happy with their pay and benefits. The same proportion are also happy with the balance they can achieve between work and home life.
According to the Employees Survey, there is a real sense of ambition amongst Thomson Directories staff with plenty of opportunity to realise this if they want to. This is reflected in staff retention with 10% of employees clocking up more than 15 years with the company and a proven track record of internal promotion.
