Did you know that celebrated ceramic designer Clarice Cliff attended the Burslem School of Art?

This is just one gem in a huge wealth of information which can now be found in the new look Thomson Local directory…and the edition for the Stoke area is the first one to be published in the UK!

Thomson Directories has taken a fresh look at the design and content of your Thomson Local. As well as adding web addresses to the business contact details listed in the A-Z pages, there is now a major new addition in the form of a new lifestyle section called Localplus, designed to provide relevant and useful information so you can get the most out of life. The wealth of local, regional and even national information will help with everything from finding your way around the Internet to planning a holiday.

“With Localplus, we have identified main lifestyle interests and pulled together the most important and useful information and contact points - not just from the local area, but regionally and nationally too,” says Sarah Davine from Thomson Directories.

You can discover which are the best performing schools in the local area, check on your local council tax band and even find out where the highest crime rates are. All this is featured in the Local & Community section of Localplus which also provides a quick reference tool on local services such as recycling centres and council contact points. Clarice Cliff features here too, along with other famous people from the Stoke area.

For people on the move, the Property section provides a price guide and all the necessary contact points. And for those wanting to make the most of their spare time, there is an extensive Leisure and Entertainment guide that takes users as far afield as Legoland in Berkshire as well as covering those favourite haunts closer to home.

Shops, from local to out of town designer outlets, have a section to themselves in Localplus, as do all those services associated with motoring.

With travel high on the agenda at this time of year, there are contact points for all your travel needs, including national and regional tour operators. The Transport section provides details of national airlines too.

It's not all change, however. Proven favourites stay...but get even better. The Thomson blue cat introduces the new look Thomson Local on the front cover. The town centre maps have now been expanded to cover a larger area, the A-Z section now includes web addresses and the classified section has a brand new look.

“The Thomson Local has evolved into an essential reference tool to meet the demands of today's very varied lifestyles”, says Sarah. “For Internet users, all this information can be accessed online too at www.thomsonlocal.com”.
