Thomson Directories Limited (Thomson) and
Lycos have launched a co-branded site on the Lycos search
engine which allows users to specify a UK only search. They
can also search under any combination of company name, business
type or geographic location.
Unlike existing search facilities, the user will see a full
listing of companies that match the criteria, not just those
that have a website. This information will include company
name, address and telephone details. Where companies have
their own website, the user can click through for more information.
Commenting on the new facility, Andrew Fisher, Business Ventures
Manager at Thomson, said: "We know from research that
70 per cent of users in the UK use a search engine when looking
for a new site. However, they are frustrated to find that
the majority of sites suggested are not in the UK and do not
match their search criteria. Now they will get relevant and
comprehensive information."
