15th July 2003
Thomson Directories, publishers of the
Thomson Local directory and online directory service ThomsonLocal.com,
are back on television as from July 14th with an intensive
two month advertising campaign valued at £2m.
The famous blue Thomson Directories cat is to feature heavily
in the advertising which is scheduled to appear on both terrestrial
and satellite channels nationwide.
“This campaign is aimed at maximising usage
of the 173 Thomson Local directories and our on-line directory
service ThomsonLocal.com,” says Kendall
Gordon, Marketing and Strategic Development Director.
“By making this investment we are also underlining our
commitment to our advertisers who make their own investment
in Thomson Local year on year”.
A 30 second advertisement will run first, featuring the Thomson
Directories blue cat purposefully walking through white space
to discover just a sample of the products and services which
can be sourced using Thomson Local.

A second advertisement – 20 seconds duration –
will focus on Thomson Directories’ on-line directory
service – ThomsonlLocal.com. Here, the focus is on local
searches, nationwide. This 20 second ad will be on air later
in the campaign.
“The Thomson cat has proved in our research
to be well recognised and well received and continues to provide
us with the ideal brand image to promote both our directory
offerings,” says Kendall Gordon.
