MSN today announces an exclusive deal with Thomson Directories to provide the local directories listings for the beta of MSN Local search.
The new search service, launched today, helps people quickly search for local services and businesses by town or postcode. The beta release is one of the first steps towards delivering a broad local search vision, which includes local search listings, mapping technologies and mobile search.
Thomson's Business Finder listings will be displayed down the left-hand-side of the page of the new ‘Local' tab and plotted onto a map, which appears opposite. The Business Finder listings will be prioritised by location and heading, linking to a co-branded information page relating to the particular business listing. Three sponsored listings will be displayed at the top of the page with a further five displayed at the bottom.
David Graham, MSN UK Search Business Manager said; “We are delighted to be working exclusively with Thomson Directories as part of the beta version of MSN Local Search. We are investing significantly in developing world-leading local search services that precisely deliver the local information people need.”
Laurence O'Toole, Business Information and New Media Director at Thomson Directories said, “We are pleased to be working with MSN and feel we are ideally placed to offer them the best local search user experience with our market-leading database of UK business and the most comprehensive set of local pay-per click results.”
