Thomson Directories’ double award-winning sales and marketing tool, Business Search PRO is now available in two formats – CD-ROM and On-Line - making it even more versatile in meeting the needs of small to medium-sized businesses seeking growth.
Business Search PRO enables organisations to build bespoke direct mail lists and telemarketing campaigns to help them develop their businesses, by applying their own search criteria to the Thomson Directories Database of over 2 million UK business listings.

Business Search PRO CD-ROM Version 12 provides users with the most comprehensive data to date, including a 23% increase in records with URLs that allows users to link through directly to their target’s website.

As a result of customer feedback, Thomson has enhanced the telemarketing functionality and also simplified the process of exporting data from the CD-ROM - those less familiar with using data can now more easily export data from the CD-ROM directly into an Excel spreadsheet.

The telemarketing campaign functionality now allows businesses to track their ROI easily. By recording individual sales and the value of each sale, Business Search PRO will then calculate the average value of sale as well as pinpointing where sales are coming from. Customer benefits from this feature are significant, as they will be able to understand which data is securing campaign success by mapping sales against selection criteria (county, number of employees etc.) common to the most successful results.

Until now, customers had to dedupe data against the TPS/FPS records before exporting into the telemarketing campaign. However, with Version 12 the TPS/FPS functionality is available within the telemarketing campaign screen. By offering this function Thomson Directories helps users stay legal and avoid potential fines.

For businesses that prefer building their lists and campaigns online using the most up to date data, Business Search PRO is available online at www.businesssearch.co.uk. A radical improvement to telemarketing campaign management is the facility for Members of Business Search PRO On-Line to have previous searches and campaigns automatically updated with any changes registered to the Thomson Directories Database.

Circular searching, unique to Business Search PRO On-Line, allows users to establish, add to and refine their searches with complete visibility of the results, thus retaining complete control of their data selection.

Guest visitors to www.businesssearch.co.uk can see full counts and view five sample records resulting from their searches. They can then register for free to purchase data by credit card, which is ideal for infrequent data purchasers. Users who purchase data more regularly will benefit from paying a Membership fee to receive discounts on all data purchases, as well as accessing the full functionality of the site - including the ability to view all data on screen, manage data in Telemarketing Campaigns and combine data from multiple searches in the Outbox and cherry-pick what to buy.

Business Search PRO On-Line was previewed at the recent International Direct Marketing Fair (Earls Court 4-6 March) where it was awarded a Showstopper Certificate in the B2B Data Category of the DMBusiness/IDMF Awards, as an ‘outstanding new product that would push back the boundaries of direct marketing in 2003’.
