Data Publishers Association

Business to Consumer directories (B2C) have a long history in providing economic and social benefits to both users and advertisers - particularly for small and medium sized (SME) businesses.

Research shows that although services are increasingly moving online, Internet and mobile services continue to complement those provided by printed directories. For many, the printed directory remains the principal way to access local goods and services.

The publishers of B2C printed directories are industry leaders in sustainable production. Recycling and reuse rates for printed directories are already high, at over 60%. However we are not resting on our laurels and are seeking to yet further reduce our environmental footprint as an industry.

'Delivering Sustainable Directories' explores the value directories provide to the UK economy and set out how publishers are continuing to play their part in working with local authorities and consumers to further improve environmental performance.

The new 'DPA Code of Practice' goes further: it sets out precise minimum commitments for all members of the Data Publishers Association, and will give confidence to users, advertisers and the wider community that the social and economic benefits of B2C directories can continue to be delivered sustainably.
